My Story

A photo of Michelle, from Michelle's Swim Stars. A swimming teacher who teaches children from 3-8 years old in Nairn.

I had been running a company called Ready, Steady, Splash Michelle since January 2023 but decided to set up on my own, and created "Michelle’s Swim Stars" in November 2023.

I only qualified as a swimming teacher later in life, it was something I had always considered doing but never found the time and, to be honest, feared doing.  It was so different to anything I had done before, having worked for GlaxoSmithKline in a Supply Chain role and Diageo in Procurement, my experience was not even close to teaching swimming.  I now have the Level 2 Award and Certificate in Swimming with the Swimming Teachers Association (STA).  I am so pleased I decided to go for it as since qualifying I have met some amazing people and love what I do.  I have run my own swim school since January 2023 and have had some fantastic 5* reviews that can be viewed on this website and on facebook.

I am passionate about teaching swimming and as such am always looking for ways to improve my teaching and the offerings of the swim school.  I have recently become Autism Swim Certified, you can find out what this means by going to Autism Swim.

I have 2 sons, who are only a year and 8 days apart so life was crazy for a long while, especially as my husband works in oil and gas so was offshore or overseas a lot. They are now in their early 20's and life has calmed down.  They have both followed in my love of sport and I was definitely mum's taxi for a long while.  To be expected, I suppose but both don't like swimming, they love rugby and football.

I am truly passionate about what I do, I love meeting the children and the parents, being able to see the children so happy when they achieve their swimming milestones

and telling the parents and seeing them so proud is is a fantastic feeling.
